Main Air Handlers

Owner / General
UCSD

Contract Amount
$1.2 Million

Jackson & Blanc was awarded the prime contract for replacement of the (3) main air handlers serving the entire facility. As prime contractor J&B was responsible for all HVAC installations, electrical, controls, and general construction to complete the project.

The scope consisted of replacement of 150,000 CFM of custom air handlers serving lab and classroom spaces. Due to the location of the existing air handlers, the replacement units were shipped fully “knocked down” on pallets and assembled in place by J&B.

The project was completed with (3) phases of work and only minimal shut down of the existing systems. Since lay down space was at a premium in the occupied campus just in time deliveries of materials and pre-fabrication of piping systems were completed by J&B to allow the campus to continue full operations within the facility.
